Disciple Making = Engaging and Empowering
Today Pastor Kevin Loo said, "through disciple making, a leader multiplying himself / herself. This is how engaging and empowering others to be applied so that they may discover their purpose in life. This is so true as different people has different talents and gifts given by God.
Let them to learn to think for themselves, not telling them what to think. I have a real illustration that can be applied in this situation. I am not sure whether is it because of the cultural in our family, mostly all of us cannot really make decisions especially me. Ok, in this case i always think that I have the responsibilities to make decisions for my brothers as my mother has given me the rights to take care of him. Here comes the problem, yesterday night he told me that no one can pick him from Setapak to church. I have told him to ask people earlier as someone needs to prepare and you also need time to arrange your time for it. So, he ask me the question, "what can I do now?" I have been questioning me my mother when I was facing any difficulties as I told her I can only come to you what can I do now? I am here to ask you because I know that you can give me the best answer that I wanted. Here comes the problems. My leader used to say that I am not helping him but I am interrupt his way of living, his life of experiencing regret, missed out, contentment that achieved by himself. And many. And now I know I am the problem. "(
Ok according to pastor there is 168 hours/ week. Wow that's a lot if you count by hours. Let's count from a day. 24 hours in a day: 8 hours of sleeping and 8 hours of working and you left 8 hours. So what can you make use for your 8 hours? We began pondering the brevity of our own lives. Ok, we can be a living church to the places that we have been. Don't be a christian on weekend. You know what Collective has comes up with the idea with pop up connect group, that is actually a creative way or idea in reaching out to people or random people. I am learning but its hard as my working environment is not so allowed me to do so but my boss is a good boss I admit.
Carry a cause for the sake of the cross...
The world has changed so quickly, if there is something in your mind that is worth doing it get your community to do it together. I am impressed with the idea of planting, building houses. This trigger my thought to go back to plant again at my house. I have been doing that when i was heart broken. Why not, this time a second broken let me bring back the pieces and use my hands to do something for my family.
What are you passionate about and what is the cause that carry you to continue doing so?
For me I love to reach out to juniors can say those that are younger than me as I think that I still have something from the university stories to inspire or to share with them. As years goes by I have grown up to be a person that can be someone listener but just I am not ready to do so. I want to be a person that can bring at least a small impacts to the person around me and be futuristics. As what pastor said, "through maturity we can love God and people. " No longer childish. In 1 Corinthians 13:11, When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
I was sitting alone for the first time in church. I have chose the very seat at the furthest from the stage. I realized that I will try to avoid myself from doing things alone as I hate loneliness. Just like how I love to cook for myself because I cannot eat outside alone. That is me and I know I am weird. Movie alone is also a no no for me and I will rather to choose online movie.
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Luke 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.
We become a christian so that we can go out to tell the world that the heaven is near everyone shall repent. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. The church is preparing all the leaders in church to have a plan in sending all the leaders to all the places to have church service together not only must come to church on weekend.
